AYA KOHARA
ARTIST
ABOUT
“I’ve always lived in the big cities and felt in a psychological sense that there is lack of bright colour around the city. I often felt I’m surrounded by grey, monochromatic and muted environment. These colours are not natural to me and I want to remember that light through colours are every living being’s intrinsic characteristics. I want to capture those by creating my art work.”
Aya Kohara creates luminous, abstract forms that are often dynamic and mysterious in full of colours. Her work embraces the impermanence of nature and the connection of all living beings on earth.
Nature is her biggest source of inspiration, both consciously and unconsciously. By watching the wonders of the natural world around her, she sees patterns in the rhythmic fluidity of life cycles.
She is keen to find a way to represent how it evokes her feelings that everything on earth is connected and transient.
